wasn't sure whether we should just post the videos in here but then I made an extra thread for this because it's also the trailer for (or rather a short verion of) a movie I'll publish later this year. also to keep this thread clean and get the comments on it in an extra thread.
this is the trailer for a movie I'm currently working on. at first I didn't plan to publish such but then I thought it fits well into the first round of FireMike's 'LFS VideoMode Competition'. however, I'm afraid I'm already showing too much content - please don't watch it too often so you don't get tired of the actual movie (and the music) before I publish it
I know it's dangerous to announce lfs related releases towards the end of the year but I'll do it anyway: expect the full movie to come around christmas (or earlier - depending on how much time and good footage I can gather to spend on it)
for a first movie ever this is pretty good imo. I don't like the blur effect after 0:24 (it does fit to the part of the song but maybe it's just a bit too much blur), also you forgot to remove the virtual mirror in the subsequent scene. but other than that I can't really think of anything to criticize. loved the colours, gave it a different look from the default lfs graphics! I want more
I hoped for less off a rush for the first round, means a deadline around christmas and no limit for the length (as there are no other limits for the first round as well). I hoped so because a few days ago I started working on a movie that will be a bit longer than 3 minutes and university will probably keep me busy enough not to finish it before december, so I suppose I can't take part in this round. (also, even if I had the time, I doubt that I could get a proper movie done within such a short period)
anyway, I hope this competition will encourange some movie makers to be creative, I'm anxious to see some nice movies! good luck everyone
EDIT:
eeh so what, to support this competition I'll try to get a short version of the movie in progress done, as a trailer for the full one..
thanks mate! this is exactly the kind of feedback that gives me extra motivation to work on further movies
about the music: I had first planned to use only one song (the first one in the movie) but then decided to fade to another one (not only to enlarge the video by some seconds). I didn't mean to copy the song from Lynce's Revolution Pack Teaser, it was actually a few weeks after posting my video that I noticed he used the same song before
can't really say I miss anybody (but inkognito and filur ), but still I miss the good bl1 xrt demo racing (yes, demo..) with a bunch of fast guys... from summer '05 (when I first tried lfs and started with that combo) until they changed the blackwood track and took xrt away from demo.
of course there's a few guys who come to my mind immediately and who didn't show up anymore, since then - but I won't name them, I'd probably forget about someone important anyway
edit:
we had a few quite well organized servers, some of the reliable and responsible guys had admin pw so most of the time there were people around who were able to keep the server clean
nice one, haven't seen it before
the buzzing melody that starts at 0:58 somehow reminded me of Benny Benassi - Satisfaction ... which I am now listening to
the first 1.5 minutes without any moving cars made me think "this video is way too long" .. but it wasn't. great and complete video, serves the purpose of a team promo very well!
I just watched it and really enjoyed most of the scenes, some nice passes and moves there! plus you chose a song that, in my opinion, fits to those longer clips you used.
some suggestions that might help you for the next one:
- less field of view might make the action look more spectacular
- try to avoid lags (e.g. switch to a different camera position right when the lag appears)
- shorten the single clips so there's only they consist of the pure action (instead of e.g. a few seconds of slipstreaming and another few for pulling away after a pass)
I love the carsounds being used in lfs videos, but (meanwhile) I do see that I used too high volume for it here and there.. so it kind of covers the music - I'll try to do better next time
and I'm wondering why the guy who voted 1 star for this thread doesn't have balls to post at least some criticism here
after expecting quite a lagfest at the beginning (when laggy cars were heading from the grid to turn one) I enjoyed this quite a lot! the music fits well to the action and the action itself was a pleasure to watch. I always find it really hard to make bf1 racing look good in lfs videos so I take my hat off to you
any chance that we can get a download link? (zippyshare.com or whatever)
